Make your book real: vision boards for writing today at 12
Join me and Clare today (13th June) over on our Mothers Who Write Mighty Network for an hour of thinking about how we can make our books feel real and get creative clarity using vision boards. If you aren’t a member but want to try us out message me and I’ll set it up for you. Members will be able to join us live and ask questions or access the recording of this next week when it lands in our growing Talks Library.
Clare says:
“I’m a freelance copywriter and creative writer, also working on my first book, a memoir called A Body of Art. In my day job I specialise in strategic brand copy, and I love sorting out a chaotic website in the same way some people love tidying a sock drawer. I tend to write for imaginative people and brands who want to inject some artistry or storytelling into their language — so I work alongside a lot of visual creatives: brand designers, architects, interior designers, landscape designers, artists, photographers, floral designers, stylists, and so on. This means I am often given visual concepts like mood boards or creative directions to articulate. I find it helpful to use visual techniques to support my ideas for my words before they are fully formed, and remind me of the feelings and images I want to evoke with my language as I write. I’m happy to share some of these (very rough and ready) techniques for visioning in our chat, and hear if you have any similar or different ways of working.”
Do join us and in the meantime pleass enjoy a glimpse into some of my chaotic ways of visualising my own books.
